Grazertrack App Setup (Quick Start)

Download the Grazertrack App

  1. Download the Grazertrack App from the Google Playstore or Apple store.
  2. Sign into the Grazertrack App with an email account of your choice. Note, assets, like collars and tags, can only be linked to one account at a time. Keep this in mind if multiple users need to access the account and use an account which can be shared among users if needed. Once a device is linked to an email account, only the Grazertrack support staff can assist to unlink it.

Add your first device

  1. You will be presented with the Grazertrack home screen. All of our products can be added as “Assets” on the Grazertrack App. Go to the Assets page, and click the + button.
  2. You will be presented with two options: Add Asset Manually, or Add Asset via Bluetooth. Some Assets, like tracking collars, must be added Manually. Give the Asset a name, example “Grazertrack 1”. Choose the Asset type, example Cow. And enter the Serial Number or ID of the hardware device and click save.
  3. To save time, Bluetooth assets, like Ear tags, can be added in bulk via the “Add Asset via Bluetooth” option. Just let your phone Scan for a few minutes to detect all the devices and select “Add”. You will now have all your devices loaded.
  4. NB – Please note, you will only start seeing data once the devices start sending data after it is linked to your account. Please allow a few hours for this.
  5. NB – For tracking collars, the sensitivity might need adjustment after installing the collars on animals. If too many alarms are received, and you don’t see an option to change the settings on the App, please get in touch with the support team.
  6. NB – New batteries need to settle in, please ignore low battery alarms received for tracking devices when using for the first few days.
  7. Head back to Step 2

Livestock Tracking Collars

*Note, contents may vary by region. If your tracking unit is closed up and fitted to a collar already, then skip to Step 6 below.

Included in the Box

  • Grazertrack GPS Tracking Unit
  • Livestock collar / strap
  • T15 Torx tool (to tighten enclosure screws)
  • 6x T15 screws
  • 3 mm Allen key (for mounting bolts)
  • 8 mm spanner (for mounting nuts)
  • 2 × mounting bolts& nuts
  • SIM card (either already installed, or supplied on a SIM card carrier in the box)
  • 3× AA batteries (alkaline or lithium) – not included for all regions due to shipping regulations.

1. SIM Card

Your tracker may arrive with the SIM already installed, or the SIM may be included on a card inside the box.

Avoid touching the circuit board directly while following the below steps.

  1. Look inside the tracker:
    • If the SIM is already installed → Leave it in place.
    • If not → Remove the SIM from the SIM card carrier and insert it into the SIM slot.
  2. Ensure the SIM clicks in fully and sits firmly.

2. Install the Batteries

  1. Insert 3× AA batteries (Energizer Lithium Recommended) into the battery holder.
  2. Match the + and symbols as indicated.

3. Communication Check (Before Closing the Enclosure)

  • After inserting the batteries, check that the tracker is sending updates.
  • Open the Grazertrack App
  • Add or select the device
  • Confirm you see signal, battery level, and last update time
  • Wait for at least one location or status update to appear
  • Only once the device is communicating correctly do you move on to sealing the enclosure.

4. Close and Seal the Enclosure

  1. Locate the flat sealing gasket around the edge of the enclosure.
  2. Make sure the gasket is lying flat, with:
    • No twists
    • No folds
    • No lifted corners
    • Even contact all the way around
  3. Place the lid back on the enclosure carefully.
  4. Insert the 6 × T15 Torx screws.
  5. Tighten the screws firmly and evenly using the provided T15 driver.

A flat, even gasket seal is essential for dust and moisture protection. Moisture damage caused by an incorrect seal is not covered under warranty.

5. Mount the Tracker to the Collar

  1. Align the tracker with the mounting plate on the collar. The collar strap must go over the tracking unit for additional protection.
  2. Insert the 2 mounting bolts through the holes.
  3. Place the nuts on the opposite side.
  4. Hold each nut with the 8 mm spanner.
  5. Tighten the bolts using the 3 mm Allen key.

Tighten until the tracker is secure and does not move on the collar.

6. Fit the Collar to the Animal

  • The collar uses a slotted quick-release buckle. This quick-release is optional and can be removed if preferred
  • The collar must be snug but not tight.

7. Activate and Monitor the sensitivity

  • If your collar arrived pre-assembled, it might require activation. Contact us with the Collar serial number to confirm this.
  • Initially, animals might move differently because of the collars, which can trigger false alarms. Monitor the alarms for a day and adjust the sensitivity or contact us to have it adjusted.

Installing Ear Tags

  1. Please use a RFID, thicker electronic tag, compatible Applicator like the Allflex UTT3S or Similar.
  2. Remove the jaw insert of the Applicator where required.
  3. Always disinfect the applicator and tag before use to reduce the risk of infection.
  4. Insert the male part of the ear tag into the pin side of the applicator.
  5. Place the female part into the opposite jaw.
  6. Select tagging location – ideally between the two main cartilage ribs in the middle third of the ear.
  7. Squeeze firmly and evenly until the tag locks in place.
  8. Check alignment and tag movement – it should move freely but not fall off.

Grazertrack App – Advanced

Count your Assets

  1. Go to the “Scanner” page on the Grazertrack App.
  2. Click the “Start” button to start counting your Assets.
  3. Click the Sort icon on the top right to sort the animals according to your requirements.

Creating Geofences and Geofence Alerts

  1. Go to the Maps page on the Grazertrack App.
  2. Click on the + button and select “Create Geofence”.
  3. Start tapping on the map on the boundaries of your area, after a third tap, a shaded area will start to appear. Our recommendation is to make the area around 30-50 meters bigger than the actual fence. This is just to prevent an Alert to be triggered if a GPS device is on the edge of the boundary.
  4. After drawing the area, click the Save icon, and add a Name for the Geofence that has been created.
  5. Once the Geofence is created, click on it again, and select “Alerts”.
  6. Click the + Button to add a Geofence Alert.
  7. Give the Alert a name, example “Animals in Paddocks 6pm to midnight”.
  8. Set up the Conditions, Schedule, and for which Assets the Alert must be applied to and select save.
  9. For Scheduled alerts that needs to continue working to the next day, please create two alerts. To expand on example above, another alert can be set called “Animals in Paddocks midnight to 6am” with the correct schedule.

Settings

  1. Click on the Profile Icon on the top right of the Grazertrack App.
  2. Select Settings
  3. Here you can set what Alert types you want to receive, as well as adjust your personal timeouts.
